Speider Schneider wrote an interesting article about this ‘death on creativity’ on Processed Identity which I think everybody should read:

I needed my appendix removed so while being wheeled into surgery, I told the doctor I only budgeted $200 for the operation but if I liked his work, I had other organs he could remove down the line at a higher fee. I asked if he wouldn’t mind if I had a few people look over his work and make some suggestions on how he performed the operation. One of them was my 10 year-old son because he was a whiz at the game “Operation.” When I came to, I was in the gutter wearing nothing but a hospital gown and my appendix still rupturing.

Victor van Gaasbeek is a 20 year old graphic designer from Barendrecht, the Netherlands. He’s currently attending the ‘Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam‘ where he’s in his last year of the Master Class Graphic Design.

Ever since he got his first pencils as a child, he’s been drawing pictures and wanted to be an artist. Eventually this dream of becoming a drawing artist wasn’t to far away of what he’s doing now.

Victor’s works consist of identity design, illustrations, type design and more. He’s illustrated his first book for Peter Muller and is now focussing on the more illustrative projects like Sliced Pixel. He’s also doing some photography on the side, which is just a hobby.

Here we have a few examples of his excellent work:

Corporate Identity Buro ID architects

Corporate Identity Buro ID architects by Victor van Gaasbeek.

Sliced Pixel

“With this technique I used the most basic elements in todays graphic design; pixels. The pixels were sliced in half, and with the sliced pixels I created numerous animal heads. Up-close all you see is triangles, but when you look from a distance, the big picture becomes clear.”

Alchemeo Pro Extra Bold, was a free font for a limited time. Unfortunately, with over 5000 download’s, it’s no longer available.

Sliced Shirts

Sliced Shirts is a webshop from Victor where he sells his unique t-shirts. The name Sliced Shirts was chosen because the first products had a Sliced Pixel print on them. Now more designs have been added and more designs are likely to appear if the store seems to be a succes.
