The works of Jelle Gijsberts
Jelle Gijsberts is an illustrator from Amersfoort, the Netherlands. He’s got a fantastic imagination which is visible throughout his portfolio. Since his graduation, he has been freelancing in the field of illustration and animation. He has illustrated children’s books and has worked with clients like Chupa Chups, Clini Clowns and Unicef.

Jelle prefers working in Flash, Photoshop and Illustrator and tries to use and combine these as much as possible. The most important advantage while working digital is that you don’t have to plan, sketch and think everything through before you start. Any mistake can easily disappear with a simple ctrl + z. You don’t need to throw away the whole drawing. As a result, there is less frustration and much more freedom.

Here’s a very special video about the creation of the previous image. It was recorded from Jelle’s desktop and shows us the creation of a scene where a cowboy enters a saloon. The original rendering process took around 5 hours and it’s speed up here to about 15 minutes.
